Rolling deep into the greens of Nepal
Golf in Nepal dates back to 1829, when the Royal Nepal Golf Club was established by the then ruling Ranas after their visit to Scotland. Impressed by the British novelty, the Ranas developed an enduring passion in Golfing which since then has been taken up as favorite past time from the successive reigns of Nepal. To date there are a number of golf courses / sites in the country out of which we have incorporated 3 different courses (2 in Kathmandu and one in Pokhara) into our Exclusive Nepal Golf Tour Itinerary. The climate always being pleasant makes it possible to play Golf in Nepal throughout the year, without having to suffer from excessive heat, rains and cold.
Built to USGA standards and specifications crafted and designed by leading landscape Architect David Melay Leidd under the direction of Turf grass manager James Leidd and in conjunction with the Gleneagles Golf Development Committee. Set in Gokarna forest (half an hour drive from Kathmandu), this is Nepal\'s first international standard 18 hole golf course and remains one of the finest and most spectacular golf courses in the whole region of South Asia. With undulating dog legged green, wandering their way amongst lush 100 years old forest this is a par 72 - 6,715 yard golf course. Look up from your tee shot here and you can see cynical monkeys and spotted deer watching your progress, back dropped by the snowy peaks of the Majestic Langtang Range.
Established in 1917, Royal Nepal Golf Club is the oldest course in the kingdom of Nepal and possibly one of the oldest golf clubs in the region. The club has a very challenging 9-hole golf course with a fantastic view of the Himalayas .Located next to the international airport at a height of 4,265 ft. above sea level, it is only 10 minutes drive from the center of the city, and it enjoys a panoramic view of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal and other majestic mountains of Nepal. The club has recently built a large modern clubhouse with a grand view of the mountains and the course. It boasts of a very spacious restaurant and bar with wide selection of food and beverages at most reasonable prices.
The club is a social institution run by members. All of the members are from renowned businesses and social standings, including one of the Mt. Everest summiteers, Mr. Ang Norbu Sherpa, who ascended the highest peak in the world during the 50th anniversary in 2003. For golfers who are visiting Nepal, for business or pleasure, playing at Royal Nepal Golf Club is a must.
Located 30 ft above the lush green gorge of the Seti River, the Yeti’s Golf Course is part of the beautiful Fulbari Resort and Spa on a plateau in the southern part of the Pokhara valley overlooking the Seti River gorge. It is only 9 hole golf course but with the alternative tees, pin position and greens you can easily do 18 holes without feeling like you are repeating yourself. Some of the tee shots require you to hit your all across the Seti gorge an intimidating prospect even for the most experienced golfers. This nine-hole executive golf course is located on the edge of the gorge and presents some demanding, even fearsome shots across gaping abysses. A 5800 yard course, it consists of two nines generally utilizing alternate tee and pin positions. It fits in well with Nepal’s other courses offering affine blend of holiday golf in a wonderful climate. The location is spectacular and a number of the tee shots across the Seti Gorge will mentally challenge even the very best golfer. The area is tranquil, the views of the Himalayas to the north, and the Seti River far below are stunning, and by the 9th hole you really will have earned your refreshment.
The clubhouse is shared by the Resort’s Health club and spa, so therefore a massage and sauna is the perfect way to follow a round.
