Pharping-Champadevi Hikking

Days from

Pharping - Champadevi hiking is an easy and enjoyable day hike in the southern hill of Kathmandu valley with mesmerizing mountain views and the opportunity for a culture immersion.

This hiking tour starts in the morning after an hour drive to Pharping village on the way to Dakshinkali Temple. Located along a river in a forested valley in the mountains south of the Valley, Dakshinkali is a temple dedicated to the Shiva's consort goddess Kali in her most bloodthirsty incarnation. At this temple, her bloodlust is satisfied twice a week when people come to sacrifice uncastrated male goats, buffaloes, chickens, and other such animals. The image of Kali at the shrine is of black stone, has six arms, and is trampling a male figure. Following a short visit to this temple we then commence our hiking upwards to Chamadevi hill through the picturesque Pharping village.

From Pharping, it takes about 2 hours to reach on top of ridge of Champadevi hill (2285m.) which is also a pilgrimage site itself having Buddhist Stupa and Hindu Shrine on the top. Walking through the lush pine forest along the well develop trail is provides a wonderful hiking experience with superb views of Langtang, Gauri Shankar, Jugal, Dorge Lakpa Himalayas on a clear day.  In addition, we can also observe the bustling Kathmandu city and spectacular village settlements from the top of the ridge. After a wonderful day trip, we head down to the highway taking another route and drive back to Kathamndu for overnight. Or alternatively, if you wish homestay arrangements can as well be made for you to stay at local house for that day instead of returning to Kathmandu the same day.
