This is one of the most popular and classic day hiking programs that take you to the beautiful hill station of Nagarkot (2,175 m.) some 32 km east of Kathmandu. Laying on the northeastern rim of Kathmandu valley it abounds with pristine rural communities and offers stunning views of one third of Nepal’s major Himalaya ranging from Dhaulagiri in the west and Mt. Everest in the east, Annapurna (8091m/ 26,545ft), Manasalu (8165m/ 26,781ft), Ganesh Himal (7446m/ 24,422ft) and Lantang Lirung (7245m/ 23,763ft), Mt Shisa Pangma( 8013m) Mt Gauri Shankar (7145m) and many more mountains.

Surrounded by thickly forested hills of pine trees with only the wind and the sound of rustling leaves it is an outstanding hilltop offering plenty of soft adventure activities to keep any one fully occupied. For those wishing to stretch their legs and enjoy the fresh mountain breeze, there are several pleasant strolls around the rural countryside of Nagarkot. Here, you can savour the beauty of majestic mountains under comfort and quiet. Or if you wish you can do pony-riding, a visit to Tamang Village, bird-watching, meditation and yoga, hiking or simply stretch out in a terrace with your choice of the refreshments - with only the wind and the sound of rustling leaves to disturb you.
