Nagarkot-Dhulikhel Hike

Nagarkot-Dhulikhel Hike

Days from

Nagarkot and Dhulikhel are one of Nepal’s premier hill resort destinations, with sparkling views of the snow-capped Himal along the foothills and valleys providing interesting hiking experiences.

There are various places around the edge of the Kathmandu Valley that offer great mountain views, but the resort village of Nagarkot, 32km from Kathmandu, is generally held to be the best. Dedicated mountain watchers make their way up to the village, stay overnight in one of Nagarkot's lodges, then rise at dawn to see the sun appear over the Himalaya.

Between October and March a trip to Nagarkot will nearly always be rewarded with a view, but you will be very lucky to catch more than a glimpse through the monsoon clouds between June and September. During the summer, sweaty valley residents escape the heat for the resort's cool mountain air; in winter they rush up if there's even a chance of being able to throw a tiny snowball. It can get very cold at Nagarkot in autumn and winter, so if you're staying overnight come prepared with warm clothing.

Nagarkot is very much a one-night stand, and few visitors stay longer. The best way to leave Nagarkot is on foot, on downhill hikes west to Sundarijal, Sankhu, or Changu Narayan, north to Chisopani or south to Banepa. Alternatively and on reverse, we can drive to Dhulikhel at first and hike to Nagarkot which takes about 5 hours.  Dhulikhel is one of Nepal’s premier hill resort destination, with sparkling views of the snow-capped Himals, the foothills and valleys. It is an eco-tourism destination, with fine bird watching and photography, and day hikes to such popular destinations as Namobuddha, Panauti, and Nagarkot.

There are 2 different ways to do this hike; one is from Nala and another is from the North West redge from Dhulikher throught the green hill. It is always better to hike through the green hill. Just follow the trail from Himalayan Horizon hotel and go to High View hotel near high view hotel there is way to nagarkot. The way is uphill. But very nice you can see Mountain View in North West to east with nice landscape and village and valley. South west Banepa and Nala valley.
