Rolwaling is famously known as the Hidden Valley of this Himalayan Kingdom with myths of Beyul looming large in its horizon. During the first Mt Everest expeditions, the hidden valley where the Sherpa people were believed to have settled about 500 years back was used as gate way for conquering the world’s tallest peak. Whatever the myths and legends may be, the valley without doubt is the most wildest and remotest of all the regions of Nepal and this itinerary takes us through some of such cultural and natural spectaculars, you are sure to remain spellbound for years to come.
During this journey, we will climb three mountains in this area: Yalung Ri (5630m), Ramdung Go (5930m) and Parchamo (6318m) with the crossing of infamous Tashi Lapcha Pass. It is a challenging journey which starts from Jiri- one of the oldest caravan route of Nepal. The Trek crosses a remote area that is hardly visited by other trekkers and climbers.
If you are an adventure seeker and are looking for an off the beaten track trail combined with challenging alpine climbs while visiting some of the remotest corner of the country, this trip is sure to satisfy your longing.
Note on the Beyul of the Himalayaas:
Throughout the famed Himalayan mountains are large, hidden valleys known as beyul, places of peace and refuge revered by Buddhists. These secret lands of legend have drawn seekers for centuries, and have been the inspiration for Shangri-La, the mystical Himalayan utopia described in James Hilton’s 1933 novel “Lost Horizon.” Because of their remote and isolated location, and the respect with which they have been treated by the communities that reside in or near them, the beyul contain high levels of biodiversity in a setting of tremendous beauty.
